Jamaica is the third largest island of the Caribbean and the largest English speaking Caribbean island. The country is approximately 4,244 square miles (10,991 sq. km) and quite mountainous, with the highest point, Blue Mountain Peak, reaching 7,402 feet / 2,256 meters). Jamaica offers fine beaches, scenic beauty, 120 rivers and many waterfalls. The diversity of the landscape supports a wide variety of recreational activities including, rafting, deep sea fishing, tours to different parts of the island, historic sites, a myriad of sports and the bluest waters for swimming, snorkeling, skiing and windsurfing.

Jamaica is approximately 1 1/2 hours flight from Miami, 3 1/2 hours flight from New York and 5 1/4 hours flight from the West Coast of the USA. The island has a wide variety of plant and animal life, many of which are endemic to the island. Jamaica is famous for Blue Mountain Coffee, grown in the Blue Mountains, on the Eastern end of the island.

The country has been independent since 1962 with a population of about 2.2 million people of mixed races and culture. The motto “Out of Many One People” is a true reflection of the friendly, hospitable people.

Jamaica has a number of resort areas, the largest - Montego Bay - the second city is located on the north coast of the island and has it’s own airport - Sangster International. Ocho Rios is situated 1 1/2 hours drive from Montego Bay along the North Coast and offers a variety of attractions including spectacular Dunn’s River Falls. Negril is located 1 1/2 hours drive West of Montego Bay and is known for its famous 7 mile beach, one of the best in the world. Scenic Port Antonio nestled among the lush and colorful foothills of the Blue Mountains, abounds in natural attractions. Mandeville and The South Coast are approximately 21/2 hours drive from Montego Bay. The capital city of Kingston is situated in the South East of the island and is served by the Norman Manley International Airport.
